Description: This is an antique photo showing Federal troops whom were called out to quell a strike by workers by President Grover Cleveland. Apparently the flipping of a U.S. Postal train by workers led to a show of force that resulted in at least 30 deaths, possibly 80. It also led to Cleveland signing the bill that would officially recognize Labor Day as a national holiday. Guess he felt guilty enough for the deaths that he had to hold out an olive branch. What better way then a paid holiday!!!! This photo has a pin hole in it, so before it found this frame, it was pinned somewhere. Remarkable original condition on heavy stock paper. Framed dimensions are 16 3/4" by 13 3/4" Thanks for looking. WE ARE THE MUDLARKS, we find treasures so you don't have too!
