Description: Antique PH Leonard Cider Lemonade Pitcher 4 Glasses c 1890 Vienna Austria SignedDescriptionThis is an antique porcelain cider/lemonade pitcher & set of four matching glasses with a hand painted lemon & leaves design. The set was made in the late 1800’s. The pitcher bears the mark from Gräflich Thun'sche Porzellanfabrik Klösterle (in English - 'Count Thun factory') from the town of Klösterle in the Austrian part of Bohemia (today Klášterec, Czech Republic) – a green double shield with crown & the words “Vienna Austria”. This importer mark was used from around 1885-1898 by PH Leonard. The glasses bear a green circle mark with the word "Germany" which I cannot identify. The pitcher measures approximately 7" across (8-1/2" with handle) and approximately 6" tall. It holds 8 cups (2 qts). The glasses are 4" tall with 2-5/8" diameter at the rim. They hold 8 fl oz. The set is in good condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are a few surface scratches & wear from age/use most visible on the dark green part of the design. One of the cups shows more wear than the others - see cup in photo #12 in description.
