Description: This is an existentially rendered and expressive Antique Old American Regionalism WPA Nautical Lighthouse Oil Painting on canvas, depicting two small buildings, likely belonging to a lighthouse operator, and a lone lighthouse along the coastline of an ocean shore. A blizzard-like haze is visible throughout the painting, along with tendrils of white storm clouds above, juxtaposed against a pitch-black moonless sky. The buildings cast a long shadow across the sands, reminiscent of early Edward Hopper paintings. Signed and dated: "Thomas Wood 1947" in the lower right corner. I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? Approximately 16 x 20 inches. Good condition for nearly a century of age, with edge wear, light craquelure, and a few small pinhole tears to the canvas (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California.
