Antique oil painting. Vilhelmine Bang(1848-1932): “Deciduous forest” (1885)

Description: ARTIST: Vilhelmine (Ville) Bang is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions multiple times and who was an exhibitor at the famous Charlottenborg. She was taught by famous Danish artists Frederik Vermehren and Vilhelm Kyhn, but also studied in Paris, where she stayed in Paul Gaugain’s house for a while. She also ran an art school in Copenhagen, where she primarily taught young female artists. Her favorite scenes are portraits, landscapes and genres. PAINTING: Oil on board. The painting is a beautiful and well-painted rendering of a clearing in a deciduous forest with scattered stones, grass and wild plants dominating the foreground before a lush wall of green trees. A partially clouded sky looms above the forest. On the back of the frame is a small piece of paper with information about the artist copied from the best art encyclopedia in Denmark, called Weilbach’s. The painting is dated to 1885. Signed: Monogram: “Vilh. B.” in the lower right corner. SIZE: With frame: 53 cm/20.9" * 43,5 cm/17.1". Without frame: 42 cm/16.5" * 32,5 cm/12.8". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
