Description: this is a very interesting antique oil painting depicting a moonlit night over the ocean probably somewhere along the Maine coastline -in the foreground of the painting, the viewer sees a somewhat rough surf crashing over the rocks & boulders at the shoreline where the talented artist created the surf with dark green-blue colors as well as off-white colors - he painted the boulders & rocks with shades of dark brown colors - the rough surf area colors juxtapose wonderfully with the multiple colors used for the upper half of the painting - the twilight sky was painted by the artist with a variety of shades of blue, gray, black, & off-white colors all intermixed in multiple layers of color - the viewer sees a very soft yellow & off-white full moon peeking through the multiple layers of sky color - the overall impact of this picture is quite dramatic - way off in the background of the painting we see what appears to be a schooner sailing with its sails full of wind moving across the horizon - the painting measures 21" x 16" sight size, & is in very good antique condition - it rests on its wooden stretchers as "tight as a drum head" - on the reverse of the canvas is the title of the painting "The Twilight Moon" written by the artist - the painting is enhanced by its original wooden frame which measures 24" x 19", & is also in very good antique condition - in the lower right corner are some initials probably of the artist, but, I can't make them out -
