Description: This antique Navajo necklace showcases the rich heritage of Native American art. The pendant shape Naja is 2.25" x 2.50", the blossoms are 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" long and the stones vary in size from 1", the largest to 1/2", the smallest, the silver beads are 9mm and the necklace weighs 128 grams. I believe it has been inexpertly restrung with wire at some point in the past and is not as pliable as it should be. This can be corrected with competent rewiring because all the old pieces are present. There are no signatures or markings. Arizona Bisbee Turquoise is one of the most beautiful types of Turquoise that has ever been taken out of the ground in North America. It's striking true blue color ranges are spectacular and the chocolate matrix that runs through the stone only enhances it's beauty. In the late 1950's, a deposit of Turquoise was found in the Lavender Pit region of the Bisbee Mine. It was not long after Bisbee Turquoise was discovered in the Mine that it was introduced to the Southwestern Jewelry Industry. This particular necklace was purchased by the original owner's grandmother in 1950 at a Navajo reservation. The necklace is a vintage Navajo design and has not been polished, as many collectors prefer the original patina. It is a perfect addition to any collection of Native American jewelry or a great gift for anyone who appreciates Native American wearable art.
