Mariette. Artists and Engravers: Made by G. Perrelle after own design. Gabriel Perelle (1604-1677) was a French draftsman and printmaker of topographic views and landscapes. He was a pupil of Simon Vouet and Daniel Rabel. He founded an etching workshop, and his sons Nicolas and Adam assisted him. He produced several hundred engravings both from his own drawings and from those of his competitors Israel Silvestre, Paul Bril, Jacques Callot, Michel Corneille the Elder, Pierre Asselin,Jacques Fouquieres, Corneille Poelembourg, and Sebastien Pontault de Beaulieu.
