Description: I believe this is a baby carriage cover. The linen material would allow good air flow, and the tatted panels would allow parents to check on the baby without lifting the blanket. "When The Swallows Homeward Fly" was written in the 1870s - post Cicil War Era - by Franz Abt. I'm not sure exactly when it was made, but sometime between then and the early 1900s. It is approximately 41.4" x 27". It is clean and smoke free. I did find two barely noticeable stains - one on the beak of a bird, and the other toward the middle of the cover (please see last two pics). Otherwise wonderful condition! Also note the tiny hand-stitching!
