Description: Antique leather postcards provide valuable insights into the thoughts and mores of the people living at the turn of the 19th century, and as such are of important historical significance. They were only made between 1903 and 1907, and were very popular, but they were outlawed by the USPS in 1907 because they were jamming their cancellation machinery. Leather postcards covered a wide range of subjects, including places, humor, morals, drinking, wise sayings, historical figures, greetings, names written in cursive, holidays (including New Year’s, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Saint Patricks’ Day, etc.), Santas, puns, double meanings, and more. They were often handmade and/or hand colored, and as such are individually unique. SEE SCAN FOR POSTCARD DETAILS WE ALWAYS COMBINE SHIPPING.
