Description: ANTIQUE LATE GEORGIAN VICTORIAN CUT STEEL NECKLACE (REPURPOSED ANTIQUE ELEMENTS) 18” The necklace is constructed using antique cut steel elements which have been repurposed and fashioned to create this stunning piece. The cut steel elements date to the late Georgian or early Victorian era, circa 1820-1840 and were almost definitely made in France, as almost all such pieces were. The workmanship is incredible and very labor-intensive. Each faceted cut steel bead is individually hand riveted to the backplate and the backplate was hand cut to the exact shape. You can see the individual rivets exposed on the two side pieces, and a few of the rivets are peeking through from underneath the backplate of the center focal piece, see the images. Then each bead needed to be polished to achieve the desired glittery effect. The images also show the side view, displaying the sandwich effect. The metal chains and clasp are also vintage to antique, taken from a damaged Art Deco necklace. The connector rings are newish. Condition of the cut steel is exceptional. There is zero rust and little to no oxidation or darkening, and the pieces glimmer and glint with movement. Just lovely! HAPPY TO COMBINE SHIPPINGALL ADDITIONAL JEWELRY SHIPS FREE
