Description: This is an antique Japanese late Edo Era (c. 1860) hand painted imari dish in rectangular shape with dimpled "Fuji" corners. It has a central design of celebratory ribbon and paper crane . Around the borders are plum blossoms and flowers. This shape dish is so much more difficult to make than a circular thrown shape. This dish was fired in a wood fired kiln at high temperature for lasting durability.It measures 6 3/4" long by 5" wide and by 1 1/4" tall (17 x 12.5 x 3 cm). Having been used lovingly it remains in excellent condition with no chips dings or hairlines.
