Custom Handmade George Wostenholm & Son (Washington Works) I*XL 5" Spear Point Fixed Blade Knife with Leather Sheath Maker: George Wostenholm & Son Length: 5" Overall Length: 8.75" >--> Blade Shape: Spear Point TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Presented here is a custom knife made by George Wostenholm & Son circa 1870's. There were several generations of Wostenholms making custom knives from folding pocket knives to Bowie knives around the 1830's to WWI when the factory started dissolving. They moved locations a couple times and changed ownership as well. For more historical information you can check out this detailed history of the knife manufacturer - https://hawleysheffieldknives.com/n-fulldetails.php?val=wostenholm&kel=368 This custom knife is in Good to Very Good condition, considering its age. The grips are securely fastened to the tang by 4 metal rivets. There are light handling marks and scattered scrapes. The top left corner of the left hand side has some light small cracks around the rivet, but there are no pieces missing. The tang is securely fastened but has started to oxidize. The blade is straight and the spear point comes to a sharp point. It has its original factory edge, but there are scrapes and light oxidation on both sides of the knife. The knife is marked "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON / WASHINGTON WORKS" on the left side blade and "I*XL" on the left side ricasso, this is their trade mark. The leather sheath has handling marks and scuffs. Both the locket and chape are securely fastened to the leather body. Both metal pieces have some light discoloration and scuffs. The belt stud is securely attached and has a slight wiggle to it. There is no piece to attach it to a belt. The leather has no rips or tears and the stitching is sewn tightly. Some of the coloring has worn off. The sheath is marked "I*XL" on the exterior side of the leather. This is their trade mark. This will be a great knife to add to your antique George Wostenholm & Son collection, or an antique knife collection in general.
