Antique, decorative, nearly a century and a half old hardcover book on extreme poverty in Ireland in the late 19th century. Exterior of the book has decorative gold gilded and black stamped design and is overall very clean with minor rubs to the outer corners and edges of the boards and upper and lower ends of the spine. Gold gilded and embossed stamp has some minor rubs or loss here and there. Spine face has old label at its lower end and interior has bookplate and pencil notations on front endpapers along with some light foxing throughout and slightly heavier at the endpapers, and title page through preface as well as last several pages of the appendix section to the end. Book's binding is tight and well intact and the book is complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. Book totals 414 pages followed by LV appendix pages and a two page publisher's price list of the day of various titles. Book measures approximately 8 x 5 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches and weighs about 1 3/4 pounds.
