Antique French Biscuit Porcelain Immaculate Heart of Mary Statue Catholicism

Description: Recently I was looking for a statue of a particular saint at my local Catholic supply store. All statuary was made of resin. Very pretty, but no porcelain, ceramic, or wood statue to be found. I realized, to use an old British expression, finding a new porcelain statue is as scarce as “hen’s teeth”. Beautiful Vintage Biscuit Porcelain The Immaculate Heart of Mary Statue. Made in France with some subtle Belle Époque features. This is a form cast piece impressed on inside base M&J with a mold number “96”. Please take a moment to take in the lovely detail. Despite not having the Sevres mark, the naturalistic detail belies similar high standards in execution. The folds of her garment is undeniably a vision in itself. Her hands, the heart and her facial features accentuate the devotional nature of the piece. The Immaculate Heart of Mary is partly analogous with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The two differences between Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sacred Heart of Jesus are, Mary expresses the love of her heart for Jesus and God and the study and imitation of Mary hold as important a place as love. All in all, the Immaculate Heart of Mary is to unite humankind to God through Mary’s heart. Condition: Very Good. Some signs of handling. No chips. Her veil on the backside a little discoloration on one side. Several lengthwise, narrow fractures on circular smooth base that Mary stands upon. They look older. Often times in cast pieces as the porcelain ages small fractures may develop where the mold cast edges came together.
