Description: An antique bronzed lead uniface medal by Bertrand Andrieu depicting the return of King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette to Paris on 6 October 1789; left centre, the King's carriage is escorted by soldiers of the National Guard through Place de Louis XV (later Place de Revolution), as large crowds gather around in the foreground and background; upper left, the equestrian statue of King Louis XV. Presented in a smart gilt wood round frame, glazed. The medal signed Andrieu. F. Jean-Bertrand Andrieu French, 1761-1822. Overall frame size 13.5cm diameter, medal approximately 8cm diameter. Some surface wear, light scratches and marks to the medal, but clear and attractive. The frame with some surface wear as expected with age. Later backing. The suspension loop solid and ready to hang.
