Description: This handpainted French drawing just came back with us from France. It depicts a French calvary officer in full uniform on the Place Vendome with the column and the surrounding buildings. The piece says that the subject, Penantier Pierre Vieler arrived in the regiment on 11 January 1859 (possibly 1839). The piece is mounted on board and framed behind glass in a custom wood frame. Th condition is good, considering age and paper: there is some staining to the top right hand cornet and the edges of the paper are worn. Measurements are: 15 3/4" by 13 3/4" and 1/2" deep. sight size is 12 1/4" by 10 1/4".
