There is an inscription on the underside of the seat which reads: "The seat of this stool is of ordinary Wainscott Oak.The rest of the stool is of Oak from a beam of a 15thcentury manor house at Barking Essex purchased in 1672by The Society of Friends one of their earliest meetinghouses.
