Description: ANTIQUE DUTCH PEWTER “WIGGLE WORK” MARRIAGE CHARGER. Rare and unusual “wiggle work” charger either Dutch or Scottish and dated “1760”. Very few pieces of “wiggle work” have survived. There are two central figures representing the bride, holding a fan, and the groom holding his hat. On the rim above the figures is the date “AD 1760. The balance of the rim is decorated with flowers and leafs. The flowers appear to be roses, tulips, and or thistles. Some appear to be a tulip overlaid by a thistle while below the figures are two sets of flowers that appear to be a tulip and thistle intertwined. There are 4 period repairs on the outer side of the bowl none of which interferes with the central figures. The charger is 15 7/8 inches in diameter and weighs 3.40 pounds. Condition is Used.
