Description: EXTREMELY RARE ANTIQUE BUSTER BROWN DOG "TIGE" MASCOT FOR BUSTER BROWN SHOE COMPANY IN 1904. BISQUE FIGURINE MADE IN GERMANY CIRCA 1910-1920. FROM COMIC STRIP CHARACTER CREATED IN 1902 BY RICHARD F. OUTCAULT.BUSTER BROWN "TIGE" MEASURES APPROX 2" INCHES IN HEIGHT. ONE EAR IS FOLDED AND THE OTHER IS NOT. CRUDELY MADE BISQUE FIGURINE DOES HAVE LOTS OF DETAIL AND IS INCISED STAMPED ON BACK THAT READS: GERMANY. ALTHOUGH DETAILED, THE MINIATURE DOES HAVE ROUGH EDGES AND LOTS OF MARKS MAKING THE FIGURINE APPEAR DIRTY. THE GERMAN FACTORY MOLDS AS THEY WERE BACK THEN WERE NOT PERFECTED. THESE LITTLE MINIATURES ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND MANY WERE LOST OR DESTROYED, AND, NOT TOO MANY MADE THERE WAY TO THE US. A GREAT LITTLE PIECE OF ADVERTISING HISTORY FOR BUSTER BROWN SHOES.
