Description: Antique Bradley and Hubbard (B&H) Bronze Scholar Teacher Bookends. These two bookends provide almost 5 pounds of weight to perform their suggested tasks. They are in excellent condition; some evidence of wear appears on the bottom surfaces from being moved around on shelves. Dimensions are 5.5 in. tall, 3.6 in. wide and 2.25 in. front to back. The bookends were manufactured in at the Bradly and Hubbard facility in Connecticut. These gentlemen operated a plant there from 1852 until 1940. It is not known but suggested these items were made about 1900. The B&H emblem is stamped into the back of each bookend. Adding to the distinctiveness of the bookends is the touch of color used by the workmen. In normal room light, they suggest a bronze cast; but subjected to the light of day or camera (see images) they take on a soft green tint that gives an aged look to the product. They have been in the same family for 80 years and well worth the suggested price.
