It is not signed. It measures 5 1/2 inches high, 4 3/4 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. The bisque porcelain is finely modeled with excellent detail. Facial features, fingers, toes and paws are well defined. The subject matter, “Ariadne and the Panther”, is taken from a sculpture by Heinrich von Dannecker originating around 1805. Greek and Roman mythological subjects became very popular in the mid 19th century.
