Description: A Samsonwerk smooth back WW1 German bayonet with a steel scabbord. This particular bayonet was meant to take the place of the butcher bayonet but was not popular on the front line. It is marked Samsonwerk on the blade and has proof marks on the pommel and on the blades spine. There is some light oxidation on the steel from age and use. There is a tiny chip on the blades edge that is shown close up in the 20th photo.The overall length of the piece is 20 1/4".The scabbord length is 15 1/8".The blade has a length of 12" and it is 1" wide in the center.
