Description: Gorham Sterling's set issued in the year 1892 celebrating Columbus's 400th year anniversary for or in commemoration of discovering the 'new world' in 1492 for the Chicago World's Fair of 1892-1893 (titled: THE WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION ). This set consisted of a ring, bracelet and spoon. I only have the ring and please examine the photos as details of the ring and condition. These exotic pieces were created in recognition of the Spanish monarchs, Ferdinand of Aragon's and Isabel of Castile's financial help, without who's assistance Columbus' voyage to the Americas could not have been made. The crowns and Maltese cross, etc. are in recognition of their royalty; there was nothing mundane about Gorham's designers even over 100 years ago. The pieces are collectible history and are made even lovelier by their dramatic natural oxidation. The ring is size 6 and I did try to take the best of pictures but if interested please ask for more pictures if needed thanks for looking !
