May 5, 1947 This Post Card cancelled on May 5, 1947 in Trier, under the state of Rhineland-Palatinate with Scott #6N5 (15pf) recognizing Karl Marx, the founder of scientific socialism. It recognizes the house in Trier which was the birthplace of Karl Marx (May 5, 1818 - March 14, 1883) and is a commemorative edition card issued on the anniversary of his birthday and on the dedication of the reconstruction of the Karl Marx' house. 1949Rhineland-Palatinate became part of the Federal Republic of Germany.
