The case has a chip in the top left corner, shown in photo. β€œAndy Michael β€œHandy Andy” Phillip (March 7, 1922 - April 29, 2001) is the first player in NBA history to accumulate 500 or more assists in a single season. Phillip was a standout star point guard and forward with Granite City High School (Illinois) and the University of Illinois in the 1940 before World War II broke out. After serving in the Marine Corps, he returned to star once again with the Fighting Illini. He was a two-time NCAA All-American and was named the National College Player of the year in 1943. The Chicago Stags took Andy in the fifth round of the 1947 Basketball Association of America Draft. Andy played 11 professional seasons with the Chicago Stags (1947-1950), the Philadelphia Warriors (1950-1952), the Fort Wayne Pistons (1952-1956) and the Boston Celtics (1956-1958). Phillip was named to first five NBA All-Star Games and led the league twice in assists. He was also named to two All-NBA Second Teams. In 1957, in his first season with Boston, he helped the Celtics win the NBA Finals Championship. Andy finished his career with 6,384 points, 2,395 total rebounds and 3,759 assists. Andy Phillip was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1961.”
