Description: Hellenistic Period, Circa 3rd-2nd Century BCGreco-Egyptian terracotta of a nursemaid carrying two children, one in each arm. She wears a himation with deep folds well defined and foot appearing from beneath. A large, affordable example of a large (6 inches) terracotta statue with some original white pigment remaining. Displays nicely. Style and reddish clay typical of Alexandria, Egypt. Made in Egypt after its conquest at the hands of Alexander the Great. Provenance: An old typewritten label was folded and in the statue's hollow cavity. The label is from "The Old Drury Antiquities and Tribal Art", a London antiquities dealer from the 1970s-80s.
