Description: A unusual Shelley "Royal Artillery" specials pattern No 690 ash tray. C.1938. Specials pattern book No 690/RA: Transfer printed motto for the Royal Artillery. Rich cobalt blue and gilt trim. White ground. The back stamp is the 1925-1940 green cartouche mark. Dimensions: diameter of base 62mm (2.4 inches) / diameter at widest point 110mm (4.25 inches) / height 30mm (1.25 inches). Condition: In good clean condition with no chips, cracks, rubbing or signs of use. Some light crazing can be seen under closer scrutiny. All enamelling and gilding is in good order with no fading to the pattern.
