Description: Extremely rare American pioneering aviation trophy won at the Pikes Peak Air Meeting at Colorado Springs Airport dated August 1929. The trophy features a silver plated figural statue of the Goddess of Victory holding aloft a laurel wreath. The statue is mounted upon a large powder coated metal plinth to which are attached two silver plated plaques; the first depicting an image of an early aircraft and the second bearing the following inscription: "SECOND ANNUAL PIKES PEAK SPORTSMAN'S AIR MEET. PONY EXPRESS RACE. SECOND PRIZE. COLORADO SPRINGS - AUGUST 1929" NOTE: The Meeting was for Sportsmen & Commercial Pilots and took place at Colorado Springs Airport on August 9th, 10th & 11th 1929.
