Description: Alfredo Sciarrotta (b.1907 - d.1985) , the silversmith whose work is characterized by modern and minimal, was best known for his signature leaves and leaf bowls. He created several variations of these sterling silver bowls for such exclusive retailers as Shreve's, Gumps, Georg Jensen Cartier, Black Starr and Gorham and others in the 1950s and 60s and became the Wedding Gift of choice in the era. This particular three leaf bowl has a modernist vibe with it's spherical knob/handle in the middle with which to carry the piece, as opposed to his other designs of the three-leaf bowls. Solid Sterling Silver, it bears the makers mark and has a few characters (1904 IXYY) etched lightly into the bottom - which you can barely make out (see photos). Google it and you'll see this bowl on here and other auction sites for as much as $1200.00 Measures 10" across by 8" across and 1.5" deep (excluding handle) Total weight is 15.6 oz / 442 grams This one comes from CD Peacock Jewelers, is slightly tarnished and has its original dust bag.
