Description: This is an original lithograph from Vanity Fair magazine entitled "La Civilisation Russe" being a caricature of Alexander II, Emperor of Russia by James-Jacques Tissot, published on October 16, 1869. The print, No. 1 in the Sovereigns series, is 14 by 9 inches. The important 19th century artist Tissot used the pseudonym "Coide" for his lithographs for Vanity Fair. It is believed that Tissot worked his own lithographic stones for at least some of these caricatures. There are tape marks at the top edges of the lithograph, not affecting the image; otherwise the condition is good.
