ITEM DESCRIPTION:An original typed letter written in French and signed by French philosopher, author, and journalist, Albert Camus. The letter dates from June 10, 1958 in Paris and is also addressed to Seymour Lawrence; in this letter Camus gives him advice on minor corrections and editing. The letter is in excellent condition and is signed ‘Albert Camus’ in black ink and is framed with a photograph in blue mats in a black wooden frame. Albert Camus (1913 -1960) was a French philosopher, author, and journalist. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 44 in 1957, the second-youngest recipient in history. His works include The Stranger, The Plague, The Myth of Sisyphus, The Fall, and The Rebel. Camus was born in French Algeria to Pieds Noirs parents. He spent his childhood in a poor neighborhood and later studied philosophy at the University of Algiers. He was in Paris when the Germans invaded France during World War II in 1940.
