The images in “Harlem as Seen by Hirschfeld” have become iconic representations of the African-American experience in the 1930's and are considered to be among the artist's best work. The collection contained 24 color lithographs and only 1000 copies were printed. The other Hirschfeld litho listed (“Sharpy Family”) was purchased at the same estate sale over 40 years ago and is identified as #801 on the back label – this is from the same collection of lithographs.
