Description: Please read item description After The Battle, Issue 48 This issue ostensibly covers the surrender of German forces at various locations including Caserta (Italy), Luneburg (Germany), Innsbruck (Austria), Baldham (Germany), Wageningen (Netherlands), Reims (France), Berlin (Germany), Lorient (France), St. Nazaire (France), Dunkirk (France) and The Channel Islands. In addition to the above there is an exceptionally well researched article on Michael Wittmann’s last battle in which he was killed during an action with tanks of the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry. Wittmann was probably the most successful tank commander of the war and is remembered for his almost single handed effort of stopping the advance of the 22nd Armoured Brigade, 7th Armoured Division at Villers-Bocage on June 13th 1944. There is also a short article; Surrender on the field of battle: Gruppe Elster, Beaugency, France, 1944. This issue contains 54 pages and is well illustrated throughout.
