Description: Artist: ADOLF DEHN (American, 1895 - 1968) Title: "American Art for Spring Fantasia" - 1950 - Associated American ArtistsMedium: Original Lithograph on colored laid paperSignature: Signed in the plateEdition: Limited Edition of 2000, not individually numberedSize: About 12 x 9 inchesPrinter: Artist Equity Funds, Inc.Publisher: Artist Equity AssociationNotes: Part of the Improvisations Portfolio (for the Spring Fantasia Masquerade Ball in New York) published by the Artist Equity Association. The portfolio consisted of advertisements for local New York City businesses where each advertisement was an original lithograph: "Each page was designed by the artist directly on the litho plate, thus making this a collection of original lithographs."This Original Lithograph was produced for an annual art event in the 1950's for local businesses and major corporations largely based in New York. Historically important for corporate archivists, these are extremely rare to locate and are virtually unseen individually. The original lithographs were produced in only one edition, and included just 2,000. These lithographs are perhaps the most unique, rare, important advertising collectibles that exist for businesses and corporations.About the Artist: Adolf Dehn was an American artist known mainly as a lithographer. Throughout his artistic career, he participated in and helped define some important movements in American art, including regionalism, social realism, and caricature. In the early 1930s, Dehn established The Adolf Dehn Print Club and became a founding member of the Associated American Artists (AAA). Prints magazine selected Dehn as one of the 10 best printmakers in the United States. He is remembered as a prolific artist of great range. His works are held in over 100 museums (including the National Gallery of Art, National Portrait Gallery, Metropolitan Museum, Museum of Modern Art, and Whitney Museum of American Art); over 25 museums hold extensive collections of his output.
