His family moved to southern California in 1946 so his father could pursue his movie career. He served in the United States Air Force between 1948 and 1952, then worked as an airplane designer until 1970, the year his father died, when he was able to become a full-time professional artist who specialized in painting images of American Indians including his reflections paintings. He lived in Santa Paula, California but showed his art widely in southern California, especially in the Palm Springs area, until he passed away in 1996. His work was collected widely including such famous people as Cardinal Manning, Red Skelton, Liberace, and Xavier Cugat.
