Description: This is director Arthur Lubin's personal copy of the script for Buck Privates, the 1941 film that made Abbott & Costello a household name. Lubin's success with the team (he helmed their first five films, all big hits, all released in 1941) catapulted him (for a time) into the ranks of the leading directors of the 1940s. Scripts such as this were produced in extremely limited quantities, only issued to people working on the films, not to the general public. In an 8.75"x11.25" hardcover binding with Lubin's name embossed at front bottom. It's a rainbow script, with dated revisions on blue and yellow paper inserted at various points and at the back. Several of the revision pages have art director Jack Otterson's name handwritten at the top. The boards are frayed and torn at the spine and corners, while the script itself is in very good condition, with pages near the front bent slightly at the top corner, a couple other bent corners here and there. Please see our other item where another script from Lubin's collection may still be available.
