Manufactured by Vion Et Baury in Choisy-le-Roi, France, circa 1870s, marked with an embossed applied blue VP stamp on the bottom. Jean Guillet established a porcelain factory on the Rue Paradis-Poissonnière in France around 1845. He mainly produced bisque figurines, which were of very high quality. Its chief modeller was Charles Baury, who later, together with Desiree Vion, took control of the factory and it became known as Vion and Baury, and in 1875 production was moved to Choisy-le-Roi. Both factories won several medals at world exhibitions. The arms of the chair on which the lady is sitting have been broken off on both sides.
