McGRAW - WILBERT ROBINSON - CHRISTY MATHEWSON, New York Giants ~ at Boston's Fenway Park, October 1912 In 1993 Megacards, in cooperation with The Sporting News Publishing Company, issued this 10" by 8" color baseball cabinet. Made from an original large format negative by master baseball photographer CHARLES MARTIN CONLON, Megacards then had the black & white version impeccably colorized. Furthermore, it was issued as a 25,000 limited edition. Editorial moment: baseball cards are generally known for their pictures, not their prose. Conlon Collection cards are the exception. Megacards took the time to fit the reverse side of this card with information that informs, enlightens - even uplifts. Incidentally, the reverse side briefly re-caps the brilliant careers of the three all-time greats featured. The photograph was captured - note the apparent confidence (particularly on the face of McGraw) - during the 1912 World Series, a competitive classic won by Boston in the 10th inning of the finale. Also note the collectible pennants over Robinson's shoulder!
