Description: BLACK BEAUTY 20 SEEDS SQUASH ZUCCHINI CUCURBITA PEPO NON-GMO Open-Pollinated USA We are proud to welcome you to GREEN GROVE GARDEN . We were active plant propagators and Nursery owners for a number of years specializing in the production of plant plugs and seedlings for our on farm use. We have learned a great deal about seedling production, proper storage, handling and identification of quality seeds to be able to offer you the finest and freshest seeds available. Here is another of our prized offerings: 100+ SQUASH ZUCCHINI SEEDS BLACK BEAUTY SPRING HEIRLOOM VEGETABLE GARDEN NON-GMO* Our Black Beauty squash was an All-American Selections winner! * Black Beauty squash is a classic, American heirloom and has been around for decades.* It is a favorite variety for farmers and gardeners alike throughout the world!* This summer squash has a wonderful texture, rich, smooth flavor and is wonderful fried or baked.* Squash can be planted in late Summer or early Fall in warm regions.* It possesses nearly black skin and with white flesh.* It has an open, rambling growth habit which simplifies picking.* The fruits are delectable when picked at around the 6 inch size.* Just plant Black Beauty and stand back in awe as it starts rambling and smothering weeds with its large leaves!* This would be a great plant to pair up with other plants like corn which are susceptible to weed pressure. In fact, the American-Indians had just such a planting method called "3 Sisters" where Squash, Beans and Corn were combined for their abilities. This is still a great sustainable agriculture technique.* Squash can grow atop shallow compost piles. This serves a variety of functions including less turning because of the deep, fast growing roots of the squash which also help to aerate the pile. Also, the large leaves prevent weeds from taking over in these passive piles. In addition, the squash take up the extra nitrogen and reduce runoff. This is also a permaculture technique, by the way.
