70’s Sears Craftsman 6” Block Bench Grinder 1/2HP 397.19340 Cast Tool (FREE S&H)

Description: ***Date of manufacture is is not stamped on the bottom plate*** This is a used 1/2HP (6” wheels, 1/2” arbor) Craftsman bench grinder. The wheels appear to be a medium/fine grit stone wheel and and a used wire wheel. I would say both wheels are able to be used as-is with there being no damage to either-just signs of average use. I assume they’re original wheels from when this grinder was new-so it may be desirable to change The paint has some obvious “age” to it and has minor scratches and scuffs in some areas as can be expected for its age. There’s also a dent at the lower sheetmetal cover as seen in the photos-just a cosmetic issue. The cord is in great shape as is the internal wiring/components. The plastic eye shields (one of Craftsman’s least desirable changes over the years on these grinder models) are pretty poor, but better than nothing. Replacing them would be encouraged obviously. The original tool tears are in place. It runs and operates beautifully with the wheels spinning smoothly after shutdown. There’s no unusual vibrations or noise from bearings. (The vibration seen in the video is because my tool box it was resting on didn’t have any traction and obviously the grinder is free to move). Rest assured-this machine is ready to go to work. It comes just as shown with all the parts, but may or may not be sent disassembled to some degree. (The plastic eye shields and lamp shade top will certainly be packaged separately). The lamp works when the grinder powers up. The plastic shield on the lamp shade has a couple cracks as seen in photos and is missing a small piece. The shield is great for keeping body parts from touching the metal lamp shade if an incandescent bulb is installed-however it currently has a cooler-running LED bulb installed. Shipping is included at the sale price to the lower 48 from Union Grove, Wi 53182. I have other grinders that I’ve saved and renovated and can sell them “restored” as well.
