Description: This is two separate letters on one piece of paper. On one side is a note from David Long from headquarters 51st reg. Dated June 20,1864. I David Long a soldier of co. D 51st regt. Penna. vet. Vols. Credited to the borough of Norristown in the county of Montgomery State of Pennsylvania. Do hereby authorize my wife Emma Long of Norristown in said county in collect and receive from commissions of said county of Montgomery. The sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars being balance of county due me and so receipt so share for same as fully as I could personally present . Witness in my hand and seal sergeant David Long near Petersburg Va. The other side: Before me the subscriber as commissioned officer of said regiment personally approved David Long within named whom I know so to be a soldier of said regiment and acknowledge the within letter attnorony and authority to collect bounty. So his act and deed a desire it might be redirect as such. Witness my hand and serve this day 20th day of June signed Bolton major commanding regiment.
