The plants you will receive will be between these ranges of size as there will be slight differences from the photos in the listing as no two plants are the same. They will be guaranteed vibrant and healthy and ready for transplanting. We do not ship with the pot as the pot allows for too much soil moisture evaporation. It will be securely adhered to the package wall for the safest shipping method possible. PLEASE BE ADVISED: From October to March, we ship these plants in their dormant state. If you live in a southern state, these will push new growth upon planting them as dormancy is dependent on hours of daylight and temperature. It is now considered a relatively rare native grass. General Description: A cool-season perennial that typically grows in wooded areas. Hardiness Zone: 3 to 9 Maintenance: Low Mature Height: 2 to 5 feet Mature Width: 1 to 1 ½ feet Plant Details: Growth Habit: Medium to fast growing, clump-forming, upright grass. Leaf Structure: Bright green 5 to 9 inches long turn coppery after frost and brown by winter. Stem Structure: Round, smooth, and green. Bark Structure: N/A Soil Preference: Sand, Clay, Loam, Silt, Chalk - Acidic Watering Preference: Medium Sunlight Preference: Full Sun to Partial Shade - This is one of the most shade tolerant ornamental grasses. Bloom Time: June to October Bloom Color: Flat, drooping seed heads emerge green and mature to tan then purple bronze from July to November. Fruit Production: Harvest when seed heads have matured by still show some green color - they self-seed and may spread aggressively. Nut Production: N/A Main Use of Plant: Indoor: Excellent for dried flower arrangements. Outdoor: Ornamental, accent plant along borders or in shady, damp locations. Winterization Methods: Leaving the foliage in place over winter not only adds interest to the landscape, but it also helps to protect the crowns from the cold. Cut back to the ground in early spring.
