4/4 One Hundred Yr Old VIOLIN, Perham, Made in New Haw, England c. 1924

Description: This violin a beautiful and unique instrument that we have enjoyed for many, many years. We have decided to sell it because it deserves more than to sit in a case. We realize buying a violin without being able to hold it in your hands and hear its unique sound is a nerve-wracking experience. We have tried to price it with this in mind although it is worth more and will be no doubt priceless to the individual who obtains it. It has been looked over and professionally set up by an expert luthier. At one point, there were some small seam openings that have since been repaired and resealed, expected for its age, although this should be an aspect a new owner periodically has their luthier check as part of their regular maintenance schedule. Any imperfections pictured do not in any way affect the integrity or sound of this violin and are minor. It truly is a lovely instrument and deserves to be enjoyed and played. The sound is warm, dark, and earthy. The lower strings are very rich. My daughter played it for many years. She has gone on as a concert soloist and prefers more projection than this violin offers. She also prefers a brighter sounding violin. This violin has a more rich and woody sound and is well suited to orchestra, quartet, recitals, recordings, and so forth of that nature. Other than the stickers placed inside, its maker is unknown. It is a bit longer and heavier than newer violins. The craftmanship is superb and brought much intrigue to our luthier. He surmised that it was handmade for a loved one by someone expertly skilled in woodworking and the craft of making instruments (possibly a luthier) but not a violin maker of larger scale production especially given the unique features of the f holes, scrolls, finish, and length.
