Short background The Robot camera was created in 1934 by Otto Berning & Co..Founded on a design of a skillful watch maker, Heinz Kilfitt, it originally specialized in surveillance and reconnaissance photography, and later also used for military purposes.Considered by many a true work of art, this ingenious camera had impressive characteristics.The Robot was powered by a spring-motor film advance, capable of shooting up to 50 frames with a single charge. Silk-smooth shutter release, with a very distinctive sound. It used 35mm film in different formats: 24x24, 18x24, 6x24, 12x24, 16x6 and standard 24x36.Metal behind-the-lens rotating shutter, Gauthier-type.Mostly Zeiss or Schneider lenses. The Vollautomat Star II. The Vollautomat series was based on the Star II chassis and concept, and it was made between 1960 and 1969 in different versions. The basic model was silver, it had a regular viewfinder, rewinding capability and it was loadable via a wheel located on the right side of the top plate.Few changes bring us to our model Star II, which has rewinding capability, viewfinder, advancing wheel on the right side, frame counter, 24x24mm square frame format for 18 frames, and behind-the-lens rotating Gauthier-type metal shutter. The STORZ reflex chamber. The Storz reflex chamber, with a 70mm lens, handle, focus in the entry pupil (see image #17), and double cable release, forms a unit with the camera, and it was intended for endoscopy photography.Based on the book "Robot Historica" (image #18), monumental work by Frenchman Claude Bellon, you can see how the set looks like once everything is in place (image #19). Only 200 of these camera sets were manufactured (image #20). Cosmetics The camera is beautiful, with minimal signs of wear and no bad issues like nicks, dents etc..The Reflex chamber shows slightly more wear but still depicting a pristine condition. Functions Camera looks fully functional, although not tested with actual film.Winding and shooting are a whisper.Speeds feel accurate.Lens has clear glass and no issues. Thank you.
