Description: Up for grabs is a rare strain of COMET HOPS RHIZOMES grown organically on my coastal Virginia farm and cut to order. This strain of Comet hops has a zesty, grapefruit profile resting on a foundation of wild American hop flavor. It’s considered a difficult cultivar to find. You can use it in the traditional manner as a bittering agent or dry hop (Comet is a great complimentary hop in juicy IPAs), but it can also be made into teas, jellies, etc. You will get three (3) fresh cut rhizomes measuring about 4-5” long, which are the plant’s bare roots, each with new shoots that will be the start of your hops plants, turning into vigorous bines once the conditions are right. Plant them 2” deep and about 2-3 feet apart. I recommend a coco twine for them to grow up. This strain loves the sun and will grow 15-20 feet tall, sending out fragrant hops all along the way. First season’s harvest will be pretty good, but when it grows back next year… you will have more than you know what to do with. Get your brewing equipment ready! NOTE: Please only order these when you’re ready to plant. They are living roots and won’t survive in your fridge. You can plant them in a pot of potting soil or loamy sand until you’re ready to plant outdoors. You can also plant them permanently in a large pot, and as long as it drains well, they’ll be happy.
