HAN DYNASTY - 206BC- 221AD The suicide of the Chin Emperor in 206BC resulted in a civil war in which warlord Liu-Peng came out on top declaring himself the first Han Emperor in 202BC. Except for a couple decade break during time of Christ the House of Han ruled China for the next four centuries ending with the chaos that ended the Han Era in 221AD - creating the three kingdoms. Technically the Han era didnt actually end in 221AD as various parts of China was controlled by some emperor or warlord claiming to be part of the House of Han for several hundred years. Turmoil reigned until 589AD with the reunification of China under the Sui Dynasty. Wu Shu (Five Shu) coins like these were made from about 118BC. Weight standards at various times was .5 gram per shu or the more common .65 gram per shu but often the standard 24mm to 26mm was more stuck to rather than the official weight (Which made the coins cheaper to make but also made counterfeiting more profitable). Coins were very similar and dating them exactly to any one emperor is highly problematic - if not totally impossible.
