I was a painter for 30 years and these are best for large surfaces like table tops, doors, staircases, cabinets, etc. They are still in good shape and can last many more years if cleaned out properly. I had never heard of the name Dunkirk but know this brush has seen stain so don't plan on varnishing with it. One never knows what may be leached out when re-activated.
