Painted in festive muted holiday tones including a soft barn red and moss green, they are accented with an applied check border as shown. I purchased these in the early 1980s from a Christmas fair in Ohio - just never used them for other than holding small pine cones during the holidays. Condition is very nice with no hairlines, cracks, chips or damage to the pottery - paint has been intentionally distressed to mimic more age - they are just so sweet and perfect in any country primitive holiday display!
