Description: You are bidding on a pair of ultra rare hatching eggs. These are lavender silkie-bantams. We paid $120 each for our original birds, and the hatchery we got them from is now charging $300 oer bird! They come from show quality stock. The silkie bantams are smaller and more fluffy than standard silkies. It almost seems like they have fur. Their eggs are a little smaller too, but they also consume very little feed compared to our other chickens. These are also the only ones still laying consistently in the Florida summer heat out of 10 or so different breeds. So they are actually more efficient despite their size. But it is their extra docile temperament that everybody loves. Their relaxed temperament makes them good for a more confined lifestyle. They don't really fly or run around much. Ours are also relatively quiet. So they are probably more suited to a smaller back yard run rather than free ranging. We lost one of our original hens to a hawk, so we do recommend keeping them very well-protected from all angles. We will collect the eggs fresh before shipping. We have seen variations in the egg shell color even from the same bird on different days. The eggs should be incubated within 10 days of laying. Priority mail takes 2 to 3 days on average, so that leaves plenty of time. Although we do recommend incubating them upon arrival. We have had good success with the fertility of these eggs after hatching several batches in the incubator and having them hatch naturally in the coop. Since we cannot control the conditions in shipping and incubating, we cannot guarantee any particular hatch rate. But we have had many customers report back positive results in conjunction with our own results. The pictures show some of the birds we have hatched from these hens. The hens we bought for $120 as chicks are on the whiter side. Their feathers can change color with age too. But you can see that they still put put chicks on the spectrum from whiter to blacker with tinges of lavender to more clearly lavender overall. To be clear, since one customer seems to have been confused depsite the statement and pictures, this means you can get a variety of colors as indicated by the pictures.
