Description: In 1953 Hartland Plastics dived into the popular Western themed TV shows and developed a series of Cowboy character toys and horse figures for children made of acetate based plastic and painted them with acetate based paint, leaving a smooth finish from one color to another. The figures were molded in two halves and glued together. In 1958 Hartland was the first company to manufacture licensed sports figures - with five baseball players. The results were true-to-life likenesses that set the bar for all subsequent sports figures. 13 more came in 1960. Each box contained an 8” figurine that were sold at stadiums and in specialty stores around the country for $1.98. 30 Football figures followed in 1962 and 1963 for $2.49 each. A 25th Anniversary rebirth of the 1958-1963 baseball issues in 1988 resulted in a whole new generation of collectors being able to obtain them for only $25 each. Five years later, in 1993 Hartland was in the midst of an attempted comeback from the mysterious disappearance of its Owner in 1991, and the floods that followed in 1993. After several attempts at recovery it released its final acetate based sports item in 1994 before another sale of the company and reorganization that followed. This 1992 statue is "New", in its original Box, with COA, and has never been displayed. Please closely examine the photos to see exactly what you are looking to purchase. The photos are a critical part of the Condition Description. The figure/Box will be packed very carefully, in multiple layers of bubble wrap inside a new heavy duty cardboard box. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this unique piece of history.
